To all those that celebrate, Happy Thanksgiving! May you feel grateful for all you have and enjoy the richness of family, friends, good health and happiness! I also hope you can appreciate whatever freedom you do have, whether that be to shape your attitude, voice your opinion and hopefully, your freedom from oppression. While there are many worse forms of oppression, one type I think I can help you with is escaping the bonds of sugar. While sugar cravings and even sugar addiction are not on par with having human rights oppressed, we still can be controlled, consciously or unconsciously, by the pull of sugar. By gaining the freedom from sugar, we can increase our control of other parts of our life, including our health, happiness and even our success.
We strongly believe in taking care of our whole self and providing the same well-rounded advantages to our children. It’s our mission to take what we’ve learned about uniting as a family to improve our health and well-being, individually and collectively, to support, motivate and join with as many other families that want to simultaneously be healthier and flourish in every way as a whole family.
That’s why we are announcing the launch of our 7 Day Mind-Body Freedom from Sugar Family Challenge.
Update…
The Energized Parents group has been changed to the EcoHuman Health Community. Don’t worry, you can still find the challenge there and join in!
This challenge will be a FREE challenge hosted in a private Facebook group where no one outside of the group can see the comments or posts. It is a place to be vulnerable, supportive and kind. It’s a place to be energized by a community that wants to succeed and wants your success as well.
Bring the Whole Family!!
We encourage you to bring as many family members into the challenge as possible because a family united in their health goals stacks the deck for success! I wrote about the power of a united healthy family in the article The Most Effective Ingredient for a Healthy Family, in case you want more motivation to get your partner, kids, cousin, dog or mailman, involved.
Why Focus on Freedom from Sugar?
There are many aspects to wellness. Some are physical, others are mental. Emotional well-being is just as important as good digestion. Spiritual health, not necessarily religious in nature, is also a part of modern life that is often underdeveloped. We believe in the value of each of these areas and their interconnectedness.
However, we also believe in establishing a good foundation of physical health so the other aspects of health can rise without being disrupted by the base they rest on.
There are also several parts of physical health to work on to create a solid base to your health pyramid. We would like to address all of them but today, let’s start with our first principle: Choose with Energy in Mind.
Choose with Energy in Mind: Freedom from Sugar
Gaining freedom from sugar seems like a purely physical challenge and even though we categorized it as being at the physical base of our health pyramid, there’s a mind-body aspect that we need to address to really succeed at this task. We believe all things are improved when we approach them with a more holistic perspective. This challenge will provide support to not only move the sugar away from your mouth but to also move your mind, feelings and self-worth away from the draw of sugar.
For optimal well-being, we believe sticking to the principle, Choose with Energy in Mind, whenever it is time to pick your next meal or snack, will lead to a physical state that enhances your life rather than inhibits it. Eating sugar regularly is not in line with this principle and breaking the chains of these cravings is a great step towards a better life.

The 7 Day Freedom from Sugar Family Challenge is being launched in the wake of Halloween’s residual candy avalanche and just after the potential blowout of Thanksgiving weekend.
Send your request to join the private Facebook group: Energized Parents. – Now changed to the EcoHuman Health Community – we will happily accept you in.
As I wrote above, the aim of this group is to create a movement of energized people who care about their own health, their family’s health and the health of the next generations that will inherit many of the habits that we role model and promote today.
Join!: for you… for her… for him… for them … for all of us!
Watch the video above for more details, our vision and an outline for the upcoming challenge. In case you are more of a reader, here’s the outline below as well.
Day 7 Mind Body Freedom From Sugar Family Challenge Outline
The Energized Parents private Facebook group is open to accept requests for challenge participants as of this blog being posted.
The Challenge will officially start on Saturday, the 10th of December. Bree and I will post a Facebook Live video every day to help structure and support that day of the challenge. Prior to the 10th we will post videos, articles, other resources, comments and questions to get you prepared and motivated for success in gaining freedom from sugar.
Day 1: Intro and Questions
To start, we will go over the reason for the challenge, the approach, tips and setting up for success. We will give you some action items in preparation for your challenge. We will also answer questions as they come in.
Day 2: Energy
Sugar gives you energy but it is a short-lived and inefficient, unfocused energy. To increase your level of success in the challenge, we will discuss better ways to get better energy and provide you with some action items.
Day 3: Appreciation
When people are in the process of gaining their freedom from sugar, they often can only think about how good the sugar is. The mental game that keeps you (sugary) food-focused can be successfully addressed through mindset shifts. We will introduce strategies to shift your mind away from deprivation and towards a feeling of gratitude. By changing focus, not eating sugar won’t feel like you are missing out. We will give you actionable steps to help you emotionally and mentally reduce your cravings.
Day 4: Awareness
Being aware of your behavior and attitude is a powerful step to making a change. On Day 4, we will provide some education about sugar, nutrition and physiology but also takeaways to put into action to empower you to be your own guide.
Day 5: Abundance
Many of us have either been trained or trained ourselves to believe that having sugary snacks are a reward and associate this with being good, achieving our goals and being appreciated. A key to gaining freedom from sugar is to unlearn this and restructure our beliefs. Life is FULL of amazing things. On Day 5, we will focus on raising our awareness of the abundance of awesomeness that exists beyond a momentary blissful bite of sugar. With some practical applications, sweetness will take on a new and improved meaning.
Day 6: Experience
New ideas, attitudes, and strategies don’t get solidified unless we put things into practice. Day 6 will challenge you with hands-on experiences that will give you a taste of freedom from sugar and the power of a unified healthy family. We will present some easy to implement practices that make life without sugar sweeter and more rewarding. Getting going on these today and then just rinse, wash, repeat and before you know it you will have established new habits that will make having freedom from sugar more effortless and automatic.
Day 7: Sugar from Freedom Celebration
This is the final day of the challenge. It is not an end but a beginning.
Firstly, if you have followed along and embraced the challenge, you will be set up for greater freedom and well-being going forward. You can also apply this to other habits you’d like to change.
Secondly, We will be having more challenges in the near future.
Thirdly, we will also be providing support to move further up the wellness pyramid with the principles that address other mind, body and spirit enhancements.
Still, today we celebrate… with sugar… in a new way! You are deserving of appreciation! Don’t worry, we’ll MC, provide the party favors and get the dance floor (figurative…maybe) rock’in!
Our Community’s Reach
One of the main goals of creating this community is to energize each other to reach higher heights and live more fully. When we come together to celebrate success in acts that improve us and our family as a whole, we fertilize a new world view around us. A person can affect a family. A family can affect a group of families. A group of families can affect a community. And a community can build to a movement. Movements change the world.
Are you ready to change the world? Our kids are counting on us.
