Magic Mushrooms for Breakfast? What this Power Food Can Do For You
You’ve probably read the last blog post, where Brad uncovered secrets to dramatic weight loss. Hopefully, you have implemented some of the strategies and are on your way to a leaner, healthier, more joyful you. But you might need to boost your morning energy levels to get you out of bed and at the gym?
I witnessed the profound effects they had on Brad and they allowed for permanent transformation not only of his body but in many areas of his life.
I know how hard change can be. Between Brad and myself, I’m more motivated by practical tips. I like strategies, tweaks, triggers and so on, that I can implement into my life to aid my growth.
So, I thought I’d share something with you that might aid in your transformation and boost your morning energy levels.
It has to do with a very highly desired force that we all seek…morning energy!
Who doesn’t want more morning energy?
…especially in the morning!
- Do you wake up and hit the snooze button 1-3-5 times, before finally crawling out of bed?
- Do you go through the first hour of your day on autopilot?
- Do you marvel at the energy your kids wake up with?
This is how I feel some mornings, especially with the days getting shorter and waking up in the dark.
I’ve got a little tip for you. It’s been around for thousands of years and has many health benefits, including fighting fatigue.
Don’t close your mind to the powers of this natural energy booster…
Introducing…Cordyceps Sinensis…a natural morning energy booster
Also known as “caterpillar fungus” or “ vegetable caterpillar”. It is a fungus that grows on the bodies of certain caterpillars in the high mountain areas of China.
Yummm! Sound appetizing?
Wait for it…keep that mind open….
This little mushroom may help you shake off the morning fog and get you feeling energized, focused and ready to seize the day.
Mushrooms have been used for thousands of years in societies for food, medicine, poison and spiritual practices. Among the numerous varieties of mushrooms, Cordyceps were a highly prized, very expensive nutraceutical for most of the 20th century due to it many benefits.
Lucky for us, scientists have developed an effective way to produce cordyceps in the lab, allowing people all over the world to gain access to them and their superpowers. You can now find cordyceps in the form of tinctures, liquid extracts, capsules, and powders.
According to the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Centre:
“Cordyceps is used for a wide range of conditions including fatigue, sexual dysfunction, coughs, and as an adaptogen or immune stimulant.”
Intrigued yet? If not this might get you there: Cordyceps may have been the first anti-aging supplement known to mankind.
The use of Cordyceps have been a part of Chinese medicine from ancient times and has also been found in Tibetan medicine.
I use it and love the results, especially for a boost morning energy levels on those early, dark, cold, 5:30am mornings, when I get up to go to the gym.
Coffee isn’t good for me (even though I love it), so this is a great alternative and has become a daily ritual. If you do drink coffee, you can just add it to your daily cup.
As with all supplements, you should check with your doctor before trying it. Dr. Andrew Weil states:
“Since it can lower blood sugar levels, diabetics should check with their doctors to determine whether they can safely take cordyceps. People with blood cancers or bleeding disorders should not take cordyceps as it increases the production of progenitor red blood cells and has blood-thinning effects. It may also increase testosterone production. The safety of cordyceps has not been established in young children, pregnant and nursing women.”
So? …Are you ready to give cordyceps a try?
I hope so.
Here’s my favourite way to prepare it for a wonderful, energizing, mood-lifting drink.
1/4-1/2 teaspoon of cordyceps powder (this is my favourite brand)
1/2 cup full fat coconut milk
1 cup of boiling water
1 packet of stevia powder (or any other natural sweetener)
2 teaspoons of raw cacao powder
Method:
In a mug, place the cordyceps powder, stevia and cacao powder. Add a 1/4 cup of hot water and using a small whisk, mix until it is all dissolved. Then add the coconut milk and the rest of the hot water.
Enjoy the boost of energy and use that energy to crush your goals.
Head on over to Facebook and let me know if you have been brave enough to start your day with “caterpillar fungus”!

Love the article. I have a pound of them from Mountain Rose Herbs, been using them in my fall/winter mushroom stove top simmer blend, but this sounds like a much better way to take them, and as luck would have it I bought some coconut milk today, just figuring I was going to need it but wasn’t sure what I was going to use it for^^.
