You decide to lose some weight and make healthier choices.
You skip the fast food lunch that your colleagues are going out for and muster up the willpower to head over to the grocery store with the intention of finding something healthy. As you try to make a good choice, thoughts start running through your head,
“Is the gluten in rice bad?…If deli meat is nitrate free is it ok?…What’s the latest verdict on dairy?…What’s this thing about soy and GMO’s…hmm…what is a GMO?”.
You feel overwhelmed and want to give up, maybe you should catch up with your friends? This healthy eating thing is no fun…but wait!
A little Irish charm can bring clarity and fun to health.
Maybe you’ve been there, I know I have.
Healthy eating has been promoted in the form of a skinless, baked chicken breast on a bed of lettuce with low fat or no salad dressing… a bowl of cereal with some skim milk to start the day… a pasta plate with a tomato sauce to end the day, or a variety of other conflicting and confusing recommendations.
With the huge amounts of information on what you should eat and what’s good and bad for you, plus the fear that’s packaged around making healthy choices, it is often too confusing and too stressful to do anything. It is also no fun.
The underlying cause of this problem is companies wanting you to buy their products, health advocates being tied to a certain dogma, prevailing myths and media’s scare tactics to get you engaged.
While new research will come up with different recommendations and there will be individual differences in what’s right for you, I know two things:
-
There are certain foods that are good for most people’s health
- If it’s fun, it is more likely to get done
I’ve been involved and studying health and nutrition for close to two decades. I’ve successfully work through thyroid issues, significant fat loss, and alarming lab results through effective nutrition and lifestyle strategies while gaining muscle and boosting my energy naturally.
With this experience and my love of words and comedy, I’ve been inspired to unleash the most sophisticated health philosophy yet…
Drum roll, please…

But there is a meat-lovers answer:

You can do so much with coconut oil.
It’s actually a microbial foil.
You can put it on your skin,
Ingest it within,

If you didn’t, have no fear.
At least it was fun,
Now go get it done,
And share these poems with a peer…
